Fees and FAQ's

My Fee's

I charge a £600 flat fee for Wedding Celebrations/Vow Renewals and a £400 flat fee for Naming Ceremonies, which includes;

  • Meetings and discussions surrounding what you want the ceremony to look like. You may want just one meeting or many meetings to fine tune the ceremony, these are all included! If you prefer, we can also set up a what's app group so you can message me with ease if you get ideas while you are on the go!
  • Ceremony script writing, drafts and amendments up until 2 weeks before the big day.
  • Inclusion of rituals, symbolic or spiritual. You may want to include lighting a candle or a sand ceremony to mark the special day, this can all be discussed in our initial meeting.
  • A special souvenir script of the ceremony for you to keep, so you can look back on the special words that were said in the ceremony.

I do ask for a non refundable deposit of 20% within 7 days of the booking to secure your date. I will then ask for the remaining balance to be paid before I send you the draft script - this is usually 4-6 weeks before the ceremony date.

Additional Fee's

  • An additional fee of £100 is required should you want a rehearsal at the location a few days or the day before the ceremony. We can walk through the movements, practise readings, poems, rituals and you can get a feel of how it will go on the day to give you peace of mind.
  • I am based in Mold in North East Wales and will cover almost everywhere, however my flat fee only covers a 30 mile radius (there and back) so any location outside of this area will incur standard milage rates.

FAQ's

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant is what you want them to be! We can conduct any type of ceremony you want, be it traditional, quirky, fun, thematic or just plain out there! We can craft your perfect ceremony the way you want it. There are literally no restrictions and you are in the driving seat, we are just there to take all of your ideas and make them come to life for your ceremony.

Is a celebrant able to conduct legal ceremonies?

No unfortunately not, celebrants are not registrars and cannot offer legally binding ceremonies. Should you wish to be legally married, this would have to be done 28 days before your ceremony with me. You can give notice at a registry office, or in an approved venue with a registrar, in a short ceremony with two witnesses which usually costs about £55. This is your legally binding marriage and then you can go to town with a special celebrant led ceremony afterwards.

Where can I have a celebrant led ceremony?

Absolutely anywhere! There really are no limits! You can chose to have your ceremony wherever you want, be it in a specialist wedding venue or in the back garden of your parents house! You can have your ceremony on the beach, in a woodland, on a mountain or abroad. Just bear in mind that the UK weather is so unpredictable, so prepare for a contingency plan if you want your ceremony on the beach in December! It really does not matter where your ceremony is located as long as you are happy!

What ceremonies do you offer?

At present, I offer wedding celebration ceremonies, commitment ceremonies, civil partnerships and renewal of vows. This is not gender specific and I am LGBTQ+ inclusive. Whoever you are and whatever your pronouns, Sophella Ceremonies welcomes you with open arms!

I also offer naming ceremonies. Naming ceremonies can be for any reason, they are not specifically for new babies but they can also be for people bringing new members to the family for example, adopted children. If you wanted a naming ceremony for other reasons and want to celebrate that, then this would be an ideal option for you. I am happy to discuss this further so please do contact me for more information.

Unfortunately I will not be offering funeral ceremonies at the moment as I have not undergone this element of the training.

What qualifications do you have?

I am fully qualified and trained with Civil Ceremonies Ltd. I acquired a Level 3 NVQ in Celebrancy: Naming and Couples (RQF). I am also DBS checked and I'm a member of the AIOC (Association of Independent Celebrants) which means I am fully insured.
